What Not To Do With Your Personal Branding Photos

After a strategic consultation, an energetic shoot, and some time for me to edit, you finally have your personal branding photos in hand. Perfect for use on website, in socials, newsletters, press, pitch and more.

Though I know you’re excited to have purposefully curated brand photos that authentically communicate your brand’s vision, here are some instances where you might think twice about posting them…

What not to do with your personal branding photos

Self-Editing:

There are many apps and filters out there that can be used to whiten teeth, blur out imperfections, and slim waistlines. As a professional business and personal branding photographer who has a mission to capture your genuine self on your best day, I am fully committed to striking the balance between ‘polished’ and ‘real’ for both digital and printed use.

While these apps can be fun for personal photos, they can mess with photo resolution, and  seem obviously unrealistic to viewers.

You want to establish authenticity and trustworthiness in your brand, and over-edited photos work against that message.

Also, if there is ever something you are unhappy with, or want edited after I send final proofs, just let me know and we work together to achieve something that meets your standards, and is fit for professional use.

Muddying-Up the Message

Even though I know it’s exciting to see yourself looking and feeling your best, I would avoid adding brand photos in carousel posts (or “photo dumps” on instagram) intermixed with photos from your family vacation.

The same goes for use in Holiday Cards, profile images on non-business related accounts, dating profiles, etc.

I promise I’m not just being a grouch! To get the most out of these images, you need them to be associated exclusively with your business/brand. And you will want the people who come in contact with these photos to take your business just as seriously as you do.

I hope this helped!
