I'm a left-brained, PhD chemist by training, so I love getting analytical about whatever problem my small business faces. These aren't exactly easy times for us business owners, so today, I want to share my secrets to creating the best on-brand content for your company's website refresh, advertisements, social media, and marketing materials.

Secrets to Creating Strategic Branding Photos for Small Businesses and Brands

3 DOs:

  • DO focus on all the places you need fresh content (ie., website, social media, ads, etc).

  • DO strategize for upcoming opportunities so that you have thoughtful content ahead of time.

  • DO articulate what vibes you want to capture.

3 DON’Ts:

  • DON'T be vague about concepts. Get specific about a shot list that will serve your marketing needs.

  • DON'T forget to visualize the client experience. Where does your customer enjoy your product? Where do you serve your clients? Create photos in those spaces.

  • DON'T be afraid to ask for help. Have a friend hand model that gorgeous bouquet for an added "human" element. See if you can shoot inside that coffee shop that has great natural light. Reach out to a business branding photographer that matches your brand's aesthetic.
